The LIMS Implementation Specialist/ Consultant (m/f/d) plays a critical role in delivering expert guidance, support, and implementation services for Thermo Fisher Scientific Digital Science Solutions. This role partners closely with scientific customers to help digitize laboratory research, development, and manufacturing operations through enterprise LIMS-centric solutions, integrating ELN, LES, SDMS, and other digital laboratory systems. By combining deep technical expertise, laboratory understanding, and strong customer focus, the Senior Technical Consultant ensures successful solution delivery, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional customer experience across diverse laboratory environments.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with customers to understand laboratory workflows, business needs, and regulatory requirements
Design, configure, and implement enterprise LIMS-centric laboratory systems aligned with industry best practices
Translate laboratory workflows into effective digital system designs that support real-world laboratory operations
Lead data management activities including data mapping, migration, validation, and governance
Identify opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, and process improvement
Develop and execute test plans to ensure system quality, performance, and compliance
Lead and support implementations in GMP- and GLP-regulated environments, ensuring systems are validated and inspection-ready
Contribute to validation strategy, documentation, and audit readiness
Deliver user training, documentation, and post-implementation support
Collaborate with cross-functional global teams across services, product, engineering, and quality
Support customer engagements through planning, reporting, presentations, and stakeholder communication
Contribute to consulting best practices, knowledge sharing, and capability development
Travel as required to support internal and customer meetings
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Life Sciences, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in life sciences technical and business consulting, solution architecture, or implementation leadership for enterprise laboratory systems
Demonstrated success delivering medium to large customer engagements across research, development, or manufacturing environments
Hands-on laboratory experience in QC, R&D, analytical, or manufacturing laboratories is highly valued
Fluency in German and English
In-depth knowledge of enterprise laboratory platforms, particularly LIMS, as well as ELN, SDMS, LES, CDS, or similar systems
Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data management principles, and regulated environments including GMP, GLP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and ISO
Hands-on experience extending or customizing LIMS functionality using C#, APIs, or scripting is a strong advantage
Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or Postgres, cloud technologies, SDLC methodologies, and validated systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into effective, customer-ready solutions
Nice to have:
Hands-on laboratory experience in QC, R&D, analytical, or manufacturing laboratories
Hands-on experience extending or customizing LIMS functionality using C#, APIs, or scripting
