We are currently seeking a motivated, highly skilled Tradesperson (Light Vehicle Mechanic) for an immediate start at a prominent fleet maintenance workshop based in Launceston. As a Tradesperson, you will be responsible for executing high-quality servicing and mechanical repairs delegated to you in the safest, most efficient manner. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that requires a high degree of technical expertise, autonomy, and a strict safety 1st culture.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform mechanical diagnosis and repairs on fleet vehicles and 4WDs using a variety of manual and computer techniques
  • Execute routine servicing, interpret work orders, and conduct post-repair test drives to verify vehicle performance
  • Support cost control by utilising warranties, evaluating parts options, and maintaining accurate maintenance records
  • Actively contribute to a safety-first culture by executing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), workplace risk assessments, and hazard reporting
  • Work collaboratively as part of a positive workshop team, providing trade guidance and contributing to pre-starts and toolbox meetings

Requirements

  • Formal Trade Qualification in Automotive / Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Current valid Australian Driver's Licence
  • First-rate experience servicing a variety of vehicle makes/models, 4WDs, warranty packages, and precise measuring skills
  • Physically capable of heavy manual work, standing for prolonged periods, working in awkward positions (kneeling/squatting), and passing ongoing health surveillance (including audiometric guidelines)
  • High accountability, exceptional record-keeping skills, and capability to work autonomously with limited supervision

  • To inspect, service, maintain and repair Light Vehicles and Light Trucks for which you are trained and authorised for, within manufacturer’s specifications, limitations and in accordance with site procedures and instructions
  • Work collectively as part of the Site Mobile Maintenance Team (HME), to ensure safe, efficient and prompt inspections, servicing, maintenance and repair of equipment, adhere to schedules and plans, and actively participate in achievement of targets

  • Communicate with the Mobile Maintenance Workshop Supervisor on day-to-day activities
