Requirements

2+ years of experience operating overhead cranes with heavy loads
Certification in Overhead Crane operation
Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs
Experience working in the construction industry (considered an asset)
Basic hand and power tool experience (asset)
Experience reading drawings (specifically precast drawings)
Certifications in Forklift considered an asset
Strong work ethic
Punctual
Able to work overtime and occasional Saturdays

Job Responsibility

Operate overhead crane under general supervision
Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions
Clean and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism
Inspect crane for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions
Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy
Operate crane according to signals from helper
Follow directions carefully
Other duties as required, as the employee will not be working on the crane all day

An education at mid-level, preferably in shipbuilding
Are you in possession of a valid VCA or VCA-Vol certificate
Must be able to communicate with the employee in Dutch or English
Demonstrable work experience as a Ship Metal Worker
Experience with reading drawings, measuring and marking
Experience with tack welding, grinding and burning
Work neatly, accurately, and cleanly
quality standards are high
Able to work both independently and in pairs
Able to tack weld in all common positions using a coated electrode

Job Responsibility

Work with relatively thin steel materials (up to approx. 8–10 mm), requiring high precision and strict adherence to tight tolerances (+2 / –4 mm, with maximum deviation of –3 mm over 6 meters)
Perform tack welding in all positions using coated electrode (stick welding)
Work independently based on technical drawings and parts lists, identifying and verifying components from pre-assembled kits
Safely operate overhead cranes for lifting and moving materials
Prepare work by reading drawings and documentation to locate and check required components
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment at all times
Communicate effectively in Dutch or English (Dutch preferred)
Carry out material handling and transport using cranes when required
