Job Responsibility:

  • Act as a concierge/buddy service and go-between from resident and management
  • Be a listening ear to pass on concerns or queries
  • Attend to needs or issues that arise day-to-day
  • Get to know each resident and their needs
  • Ensure residents settle in happily and have a positive experience
  • Make residents feel at home and welcome
  • Ensure residents' personal space feels homely
  • Be aware of residents’ birthdays and inform kitchen and entertainments team
  • Introduce yourself to residents and their families, get to know them
  • Ensure residents are comfortable and liaise with housekeeping/maintenance/care/catering/hairdressing/chiropody/activities
  • Ensure residents are aware of and can attend the activities programme
  • Help with correspondence/banking/shopping/post office/library/booking restaurants/keeping in touch with family
  • Liaise by email/phone with family members, alert them to matters of interest
  • Facilitate personal shopping trips and trips to bank/post office
  • Take residents out for coffee, walks
  • Offer a ‘listening ear’
  • Spend one-to-one time with residents
  • Use lifestyle budget to brighten someone’s day
  • Build relationships with residents' families
  • Plan and organise trips
  • Encourage residents to socialise together
  • Identify specific personal activities and arrange if not on programme
  • Assist residents at activities like clothing sales, help with personal allowance
  • Accompany residents into town
  • Actively market Tanglewood and promote a positive attitude
  • Adapt and create an atmosphere that suits individual residents
  • Maintain a record of assistance provided
  • Attend funerals as necessary

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Genuine interest in working with client group
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Satisfactory DBS check and check against the ISA List (where applicable)
  • Smart appearance
