Job Responsibility:
Able to work through difficult formal and informal cases by reviewing medical records, medical exams, financial documents, telephone interviews, and other underwriting requirements to determine proper risk class assessment in accordance with company guidelines
Properly document risk assessment information and underwriting decisions within system application
Communicate underwriting decisions with field distribution, agents, and FMOs
Build rapport by educating on additional strategies that can be used to present adverse decisions to clients, as well as education on our products, requirements and underwriting philosophy
Correspond effectively with internal and external customers regarding the status of cases, including field and internal distribution partners, the medical community, reinsurers and vendors
Recommend improvements to the internal Underwriting guidelines, operational procedures, and standards
Participates on department projects as assigned.
Requirements:
6 + years’ experience required: Life or long term care underwriting
Four-year degree required: Business, communications, or medical fields of study or equivalent work experience
Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI)
You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require immigration sponsorship for visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B, L-1, TN, etc). If you are currently on CPT/OPT, you are ineligible due to the need for future immigration sponsorship.
