Job Responsibility

  • Effective and prudent assessment of risks that are processed within the operational underwriting
  • Provide thorough and robust justifications of decisions and refer cases to third parties including Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and re-assurers
  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing to give clear instruction & reasons for decisions
  • Manage customer expectations and portray Guardian’s high standards and underwriting services
  • Act as the point of contact for Customer Services team and distribution teams
  • Provide retrospective underwriting of cases for the claims area and claims committee
  • Ensure Guardian’s Customer Services proposition for both advisers and customers is delivered ensuring that the quality of our services continues to meet and be recognised for leading the market

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months experience in Life & Health Protection Underwriting within the UK market
  • Ability to work and collaborate with colleagues at all levels and with external parties
  • Identifying various Customer types and adapt accordingly
  • Complaint management
  • Internal and external stakeholder management
  • Internal and external objection handling
  • Independent time management skills
