Job Description

Olsson provides multidisciplinary design services for transportation projects spanning DOT and municipal roadway systems, including urban and rural highways, interchanges, and local streets. As a Licensed Roadway Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects, with a strong emphasis on enclosed storm sewer drainage design.

Job Responsibility

  • Play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects, with a strong emphasis on enclosed storm sewer drainage design
  • Prepare roadway and drainage plans and specifications
  • Perform and review design and hydraulic calculations
  • Develop cost estimates
  • Support project management efforts
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, agency partners, and clients
  • Contribute to technical decision‑making
  • Help mentor junior staff
  • Participate in client meetings and occasional field observations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
  • 6–10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, including DOT and/or municipal roadway projects
  • Demonstrated experience in enclosed storm sewer drainage design, including hydraulic analysis, plan development, and coordination with roadway design
  • Proficiency with roadway and drainage design software such as Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Nebraska, or ability to obtain reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, agency partners, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to project delivery, technical problem‑solving, and mentoring of junior staff
