Job Description

We are looking for Licensed Journeymen Electricians to join our Quality Service Team! You will perform Journeyman (or higher) level work in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in semiconductor, high-tech, industrial or related industries.

Job Responsibility

  • Ensures reliability and safety of electrical systems
  • Perform routine electrical preventive maintenance tasks
  • Perform routine and specialized electrical equipment inspections as well as routine electrical and controls troubleshooting on various equipment including variable frequency drives, low voltage and medium voltage starters and switchgear, motors, etc.
  • Provide support for new equipment start-up and supporting electrical activities
  • Interface with all other facilities teams working closely with other contractors, engineers and client in conducting electrical testing and maintenance

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience supporting construction and industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge in local and national codes, construction drawings/symbols, acceptable industry standard/practices
  • Must be able to read and understand building prints/drawings
  • Effective communication with a variety of individuals including engineers, customers, trades people, inspectors, project managers, and other electricians
  • Proficiency with a computer and ability to coordinate daily scheduled activities is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment
  • Must have Journeyman Electrician license

  • Complete work orders in JLL's CMMS platform while maintaining accurate documentation of labor, materials, and system conditions to meet Service Level Agreements
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring failures and proactively identify infrastructure risks to recommend sustainable repair or capital replacement strategies
  • Provide cross-functional support for light plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical tasks while collaborating with Facilities and Engineering teams

  • Must be a certified Electrician, holding a Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician (442A) and a Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and manage capital upgrades to electrical infrastructure and control systems operating at high voltage (115 kV), medium voltage (27.6 kV or 4.16 kV), low voltage (480 V), DC (250 VDC), small load (120 VAC) and control (24 VDC) levels.
  • Coordinate the high voltage preventative and corrective maintenance program including annual infrared (IR) inspections of substation equipment, insulator cleaning, and oil tests of transformers.
  • Coordinate the medium voltage preventative and corrective maintenance program including regular servicing and cleaning of Siemens and Joslyn breakers, transformers and switchgear.
  • Coordinate the backup diesel generator preventative and corrective maintenance program to ensure regular testing and service.
  • Act as company liaison with Hydro One and IESO with respect to shutdown scheduling, maintenance and communication.
  • Manage multiple capital projects simultaneously, from conceptualization through to commissioning by first generating scopes of work, RFQ packages, schedules and cost estimates, then supervising selected contractors until project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulations including, but not limited to, the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Coordinate the activities of and provide technical direction to external consulting engineers.
  • Support and promote the company's health and safety objectives at all times, including the incorporation of hazard and risk management into design work and process development.
