We’re looking for a Level Designer at Panteon to create captivating and challenging experiences for our puzzle titles. If you have a knack for crafting “aha!” moments, mastering the art of the difficulty curve, and building levels that keep players coming back for one more try, we want you on our team.
Job Responsibility:
Level Creation: Design, build, and test high-quality levels from concept to final polish using internal tools and Unity.
Pacing & Flow: Map out the player journey across hundreds of levels, ensuring a perfect mix of easy wins and hard challenges.
Workflow Optimization: Provide decisive feedback on internal editor tools and collaborate with developers to streamline and optimize the level creation pipeline.
Data-Driven Balancing: Partner with the data team to develop advanced methodologies for analyzing level flow, ensuring a perfectly calibrated difficulty curve based on player behavior.
Feature Integration: Collaborate with the Game Design team to introduce new blockers, power-ups, and mechanics into the level flow at the right intervals.
Playtesting & Iteration: Conduct rigorous playtesting to ensure every level feels fair, fun, and functional.
Live Ops Support: Analyze live level performance metrics and re-balance existing levels to improve player retention and progression.
Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of level themes, mechanics usage, and difficulty tagging.
Requirements:
A Passion For Puzzle Mechanics: Deep understanding of what makes a puzzle satisfying at various sub-genres.
Difficulty Balancing: Ability to design a smooth progression curve that keeps players in a flow state challenging enough to engage, but never frustrating enough to quit.
Creative Problem Solving: Ability to take a single game mechanic and explore its depth through hundreds of unique level variations.
1+ years of Professional Experience in mobile game level design (preferably in Puzzle, Match-3, or Blast genres).
Data-First Design: Ability to look at level-drop-off rates and churn data to identify where a level is too hard or too easy, and adjust accordingly.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working within Unity and using proprietary level editors or tile-based tools.
Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to deconstruct top-performing puzzle games to understand their level pacing and special element introduction.
Strong Communication: Ability to collaborate with artists to ensure levels are visually clear and with developers to ensure mechanics are bug-free.
