Job Description

A welcoming and well-established primary school in Newhaven is seeking a committed and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term supply basis. Job Responsibility

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
  • Lead small group interventions to support pupil progress
  • Provide 1:1 support, including for pupils with SEND
  • Assist with planning and preparation of learning activities and resources
  • Promote positive behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support staff

Requirements

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
  • Previous experience working within a UK primary school
  • Confident supporting learning across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH)
  • Experience delivering interventions (phonics, literacy, numeracy)
  • Good understanding of the UK primary curriculum
