You will primarily work on our M25 Highways project but will be asked to work on other projects as and when required. As an apprentice, you will be expected to work 4 days per week on projects with 1 day per week spent at college undertaking a Level 3 in Electrical Installation and Maintenance. The role's main purpose is to maintain the numerous electrical and electro-mechanical systems as appropriate. Reporting to the Shift Manager, the successful candidate will support team members in maintaining the smooth running of the maintenance function and will be working closely with the depot operations team.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out Planned Maintenance and defect repair work on a range of electrical equipment which includes Switchgear, Transformers, Pumps, Fans, VSDs, lighting and associated control gear etc.
Repair and maintenance of the traffic safety system on the approach to the Dartford tunnels, including sensors, barriers and traffic signals
Read drawings and carry out fault finding and repairs with supervision
Carry out all types of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance work within the capacity of an Electrical Technician with direct supervision
Carry out any work of a manual or semi-skilled nature under the instructions of the Shift Manager
Ensure that all relevant Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices are always adopted
Under supervision, attend incidents and work safely in accordance with policies to facilitate the early clear up of hazards/incidents
Any other duties within the capacity of a Maintenance Technician as required by the Line Managers
Visit other business areas for short periods to increase skill sets and broaden experience to enhance career development
