Job Description:

We are looking for Level 1 swimming teachers to help provide the highest quality swimming lessons and aquatic sessions for people of all ages and abilities. We're looking for people with good communication skills who are able to deliver the Swim England 'Learn to Swim Programme'.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adhere to Health and Safety and Brio Leisure Operating Procedures
  • Check teaching environment is suitable and hazard-free
  • Allow time for 'set up' before lessons
  • Ensure safe use and storage of equipment
  • Contribute to prompt timekeeping of daily lesson programme and class changeovers
  • Teach a range of organised aquatic disciplines at appropriate levels
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Swim England 'Learn to Swim' programme
  • Apply the 'Brio Learn 2 Swim Scheme of Work'
  • Deliver swimming lessons in accordance with Swim England programme
  • Assume responsibility of a Level 1 'assistant teacher' where necessary
  • Demonstrate a range of teaching skills for communication, learning styles and feedback
  • Maintain participant weekly attendance registers
  • Update participant achievement records
  • Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Self-assessment, peer observation, Aquatics Lead observation
  • Liaise with participants, parents and Aquatics Lead
  • Carry out any other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • SEQ (Swim England Qualified) or equivalent Level 1 swimming teacher qualification
  • Preferably with an NPLQ or NRASTC qualification (not essential)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to deliver the Swim England 'Learn to Swim Programme'
  • Passionate
  • Highly motivated
  • Love of swimming

  • Observe and report learner progress and behaviour to the Swimming Teacher
  • To assist with the emergency evacuation of the pool, as directed by the Swimming Teacher, for example in the event of a fire alarm activation
