A well-established law firm in Central Manchester is looking for an experienced and proactive Family Legal Secretary to join their family department. The role involves providing comprehensive secretarial support, preparing legal documents, managing calls and correspondence, handling billing tasks, and maintaining accurate records. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in family law, strong IT and communication skills, and a proactive, organised approach to work.
Job Responsibility:
Providing comprehensive secretarial support to family solicitors, including digital dictation, diary management, and client correspondence
Preparing legal documents, forms, and court bundles in a timely and accurate manner
Managing incoming calls and liaising with clients, courts, and third parties in a professional and confidential manner
Ensuring all file administration is kept up to date, both electronically and in hard copy, using the firm’s case management system
Handling billing and time-recording tasks, ensuring prompt invoicing and accurate financial records
Assisting with file opening and compliance procedures, including anti-money laundering checks
Supporting the wider team with general administrative tasks and contributing to a positive office environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience working as a legal secretary, ideally within a family law team
Excellent typing and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with case management systems
Strong communication skills, with a sensitive and professional approach when dealing with clients going through difficult circumstances
Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
A team player with a proactive attitude, ready to support others and contribute to the smooth running of the department.
