Our Firm has an immediate opening for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Criminal Defense legal team. The ideal candidate will, among other duties assigned, organize and maintain law libraries, documents and case files, schedule appointments, answer phones, make photocopies, draft and type office memos, mail, fax, or arrange for delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses and court officials. Assist attorneys in collecting employment, medical and other records. Prepare and process legal documents and papers; summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions and pretrial agreements. Excellent communication, organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, participation in on-going learning and development and demonstration of initiative are essential in this role.

Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one - five years related experience
High school diploma or equivalent education is required
A minimum of one year of experience in a legal or administrative role is essential
Proficiency in e-filing, court filings, and calendar management
Strong ability to handle dictation and compose legal correspondence
Familiarity with legal files, subpoenas, and medical record management
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Competence in operating multi-line phone systems and office equipment
Ability to work on-site in Overland Park, Kansas, and demonstrate reliability in a detail-oriented office environment
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
