Our client in Oakland is seeking a Legal Secretary to support its Employment Law practice in an ongoing contract role. This position offers a primarily remote schedule with 2 days a week on-site. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fast‑moving employment litigation, values teamwork, and is comfortable supporting multiple priorities in a hybrid environment.
Job Responsibility:
Draft, revise, and format employment litigation pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
Maintain attorney calendars, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court dates
Prepare discovery shells, organize document productions, track responses, and maintain discovery logs
Handle state and federal court e‑filings (California courts and PACER/ECF)
Maintain organized, up‑to‑date case files and assist with trial preparation as needed
Coordinate communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Provide general administrative and litigation support to a busy employment group
Requirements:
2–5+ years of experience supporting Employment Law or civil litigation attorneys
Working knowledge of California state and federal court rules and e‑filing procedures
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills
Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a mostly remote environment
Tech‑savvy and adaptable to new tools, systems, and workflows
