Six-month secondment opportunity for experienced lawyers to work at the heart of the UK’s data protection regulator. Secondees will contribute to high profile, challenging work that will influence how we regulate, enforce and support good information rights practice in the years ahead.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to high profile, challenging work that will influence how we regulate, enforce and support good information rights practice
  • Help deliver the ICO’s strategic goals through casework, legal enforcement, policy development, and litigation
  • Collaborate with talented colleagues and make a real impact in shaping the ICO’s legal direction

Requirements:

  • UK or EU qualified lawyer employed by a law firm
  • Foreign-qualified or Chartered Legal Executive lawyer (for litigation/enforcement-focused roles)
  • Lawyers with prior experience in privacy or cybersecurity law (required for advisory, policy, or enforcement roles
  • not compulsory for litigation roles)
  • Barristers seeking a six-month placement
  • Must be based in the UK during the secondment
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
