We are looking for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to join our team in Austin, Texas. This position involves providing comprehensive administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals, with a focus on litigation processes such as discovery, court filings, and trial preparation. As this is a 2–3-month contract role, you will play a vital part in ensuring client satisfaction and supporting the firm's legal operations.
Job Responsibility:
Manage administrative tasks for attorneys and legal staff, demonstrating expertise in litigation and legal procedures
Prepare and submit legal documents to State and Federal courts, including electronic filings
Create, organize, and maintain legal correspondence, trial binders, and other essential documentation
Support client onboarding and business development activities, including conflict checks and opening new matters
Accurately record and track timekeeper's hours and expenses using the firm’s billing system
Oversee client billing processes, including reviewing, editing, and distributing invoices in collaboration with the Billing team
Coordinate and review submissions, reports, and other materials, ensuring timely distribution
Serve as a liaison with internal and external resources to manage workflow and complete projects efficiently
Provide overflow assistance to other administrative staff as needed
Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive client and attorney information
Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of State and Federal litigation practices, including local court rules and procedures
Proficiency in e-filing systems and civil litigation processes
Strong organizational and calendar management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, attorneys, and team members
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other legal software tools
Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team player
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all tasks
A proactive attitude with the willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
