Job Description:

Legal Negotiator role supporting the commodities legal team within Citi Belfast Markets Legal Contract Management Team. The position involves working with master agreements for financially settled commodities transactions (ISDA), physically settled commodities transactions (EFET), emissions allowance trading, and associated amendments. Offers challenging work within a supportive team with learning opportunities and long-term growth potential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and required documentation
  • Conduct business negotiations in a timely, thorough, and efficient manner
  • Engage with institutional clients and their internal/external counsel
  • Collaborate with Citi's first line, legal, second line, and other internal constituents
  • Address queries from Citi businesses and clients regarding contractual documentation
  • Initiate communication with unresponsive customers
  • Maintain detailed records of negotiations
  • Stay abreast of new and changing regulatory and legal issues
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities for development and implementation of projects
  • Advise Risk function and business partners on risks and documentation requirements

Requirements:

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services
  • Contractual and documentation negotiation experience in a large institutional setting
  • In-depth knowledge of legal customs and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry
  • Proven record of completing complex documentation within tight time deadlines
  • Ability to manage complex documentation with organization and detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Bachelors/University degree
  • Master's degree preferred
