Job Description:

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human-level intelligence. Our robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA and requires 5 days/week of in-office collaboration. Figure’s vision is to deploy autonomous humanoids at a global scale. We are looking for a motivated Legal Intern to support our Deputy General Counsel and assist with a wide range of legal, compliance, and research responsibilities during Summer 2026. This role is ideal for a law student entering their second year (2L) who is excited to gain hands-on legal experience in a fast-paced robotics and AI environment. [Class of 2028]

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with legal research, issue spotting, and drafting across corporate, regulatory, IP, and employment matters
  • Support review and preparation of contracts, including NDAs, vendor agreements, and commercial documents
  • Help maintain corporate governance documentation and compliance processes
  • Conduct research on emerging regulations impacting robotics, AI, employment law, and data privacy
  • Assist with dispute resolution efforts, including document organization and coordination with outside counsel
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support day-to-day legal needs across engineering, operations, and people functions

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. law school and entering 2L year
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail in a fast-moving environment
  • Interest in technology, robotics, compliance, or emerging regulatory issues
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with diverse teams
  • Commitment to inclusivity, respect, and ethical decision-making

Nice to have:

  • Coursework or experience in corporate, IP, employment, or privacy law
  • Prior in-house experience or exposure to startups
  • Familiarity with manufacturing or hardware-focused environments
