The Summer Legal Intern will provide valuable support to Group 1’s corporate legal department by assisting with legal research, drafting legal documents, and performing various administrative tasks. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to do substantive work and gain hands-on experience as to the roles and responsibilities of a corporate legal department.
Job Responsibility:
Effectively perform legal research and analysis
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents, such as commercial contracts and memos, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
Gain an understanding of how legal and regulatory compliance helps business units develop their overall strategy and business goals
Attend meetings with attorneys and business clients and take detailed notes, summarizing key points and action items to meet project deadlines
Assist in preparing and organizing documents for court filings, including assembling exhibits and creating document indices
Collaborate with, and provide support to, other team members that contributes to the overall success of the legal department
Gather practical in-house experience in a variety of disciplines and learn how the company achieves its core values
Requirements:
Candidate should be a second-year law student with a strong academic record
Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and present information effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in using legal research databases and software, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and principles
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
Candidate must provide a resume and an unofficial law school transcript
