Main role is to act as business partner to the management and stakeholders of the GCC (“Region”), delivering effective and practical legal advice, direction and documentation to the GCC Regional Legal Director and management in relation to contracts, customers or projects within the Region, in addition to providing leadership and expertise in legal matters to the Aramex subsidiaries to ensure compliance with the company’s wide legal governance
Job Responsibility:
Act as business partner to management and stakeholders
Own, manage and report on all litigation and/or threatened claims
Provide legal advice on commercial, operational, employment and financial matters
Build and share knowledge within the Region
Manage the legal function in relation to all business activities
Raise legal and regulatory considerations and provide practical solutions
Plan, manage and address legal and compliance risk related to regional projects
Assist business to prevent, navigate, and resolve complex legal issues
Report on updates on applicable laws and regulations
Provide transactional corporate legal support
Advise, review and negotiate commercial contract matters
Manage communication and negotiations with Postal Authorities and regulatory bodies
Manage and support continuous matters by research, analysis, and legal representation
Provide legal and compliance assessment for new products, services, or initiatives
Manage relationship with external lawyers
Build relationships with internal stakeholders
Requirements:
Law degree from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where they work
3-5 years’ PQE experience practicing law in a commercial or corporate setting
In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations of the Region related to commercial transactions
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good understanding of business and industry practices
Strong attention to detail
Adherence to high ethical standards and uphold confidentiality
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in law from the UK, the US, Canada, France or Australia
Experience in the transportation and logistics industry or sector
