Our client, a world-leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team. This position offers the chance to partner closely with senior legal leadership while building deeper knowledge of federal contracting requirements within the aerospace and defense environment. The role also provides exposure to broader commercial legal matters as responsibilities expand over time.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the review, drafting, and negotiation of U.S. Government contracts and subcontracts, including agreements governed by FAR and DFARS
Support compliance efforts related to U.S. federal procurement regulations, export controls, and associated legal obligations
Contribute to contract flow-down analysis and monitor adherence to contractual requirements
Help interpret contractual and regulatory provisions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
Collaborate closely with Senior Legal Counsel to deliver practical legal advice to business, engineering, and procurement teams
Support the resolution of contractual issues arising during contract performance
Participate in internal reviews focused on risk management, compliance, and corporate governance
Provide support on commercial contracting matters, including NDAs, collaboration agreements, and supplier contracts
Assist in developing and maintaining internal legal processes, templates, and training resources
Contribute to dispute avoidance strategies and early identification of potential issues
Build commercial contracting expertise over time
prior experience is beneficial but not required, with a strong willingness to develop in this area
Requirements:
Juris Doctorate degree and qualification to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction
2–7 years' experience supporting U.S. Government contracts, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or other regulated industrial sectors
Experience in US government contracting and compliance, including experience in FAR/DFAR
Significant experience in advising on a range of highly complex technical legal and compliance issues
Practical and solution-oriented, with the ability to work under supervision while progressively taking on greater responsibility
Self-motivated and proactive, able to manage competing priorities, focus on key legal and compliance risks, and deliver results under pressure while coordinating across multiple stakeholders
