Reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs, the mission of the Legal Counsel, U.S. Commercial Operations, is to be a trusted and agile business partner, identifying legal risk in a timely, pragmatic, and commercially focused manner to support growth and make customers' lives easier while safeguarding the company's assets. This position will assist in the build of the U.S. commercial law function by becoming an elite member of a team designed to be the go-to legal partner to a dynamic group of business stakeholders.
Job Responsibility
Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of domestic and international commercial agreements, including marketing, merchandising, manufacture, transportation, supply chain, technology, licensing, fuel, consulting, and other operational agreements
Provide practical solutions-based legal counsel to various national and international business stakeholders on a wide variety of legal and business issues
Assist in the creation, implementation, and refinement of forms, processes, procedures and systems to support the effective delivery of enterprise commercial legal support
Work cross-functionally with teams across the company to analyze legal risks, devise creative solutions, and develop trusted advisor relationships
Educate business partners with regard to key legal, risk, competition, compliance, data privacy, and regulatory considerations, both in day-to-day interactions and in structured training sessions
Maintain an understanding of Circle K's strategic objectives, products, and services
Monitor and communicate legal developments that would impact the company's business lines to proactively help business partners 'see around corners'
Requirements
Bar admission and license to practice law in the U.S., member in good standing
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
3-5 years of experience (in-house and law firm)
Experience in structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of agreements and identifying key issues and risks, preferably with experience in general commercial transactions and business counseling
Nice to have
Prior experience advising retail clients is a plus
