Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional employment lawyer based in London to join our growing global Legal team. The Legal team is a dynamic external and internal-facing function which supports all aspects of the business across all offices, from Tokyo to San Francisco. As Legal Counsel, Employment & HR, you will work closely with the Legal team in the US, Europe and Asia, as well as with our global HR and Recruiting teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Mitigate employment-related risk through consistent and standardized employee contracting, effective employee conversations, and decision-making
  • Ensure the rigorous and consistent deployment of AlphaSights’ template employment contracts globally and approve any exceptions to such template contracts
  • Update and enhance AlphaSights template employment contracts, handbooks and other related documents as required by law or for business need and create procedures and process efficiencies
  • Collaborate with global leadership to understand and resolve any potential employee legal issues / grievances

Requirements

  • BA/BS/LLB from a top university in the UK or other relevant law degree
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales, with at least 4 years post qualification experience as an employment lawyer at a top firm or in-house
  • Experience in drafting employment contracts and handbooks and dealing with employee legal matters
  • Fluency in English
  • Confidence and flexibility operating in a fast-paced and challenging global environment
  • An execution-focused mindset, with an inner drive to push tasks forward to ensure timely and high quality delivery
  • People-oriented, emotionally intelligent team mindset with an ability to develop strong relationships and navigate challenges across the organisation

  • On a daily basis, provide legal advice and counseling on a wide range of employment law issues and legal support to the business unit and operations HR teams.
  • On a routine basis, provide tactical and strategic legal advice and counseling to HR leadership, including advice on handling performance or conduct concerns of high-level employees, employment law implications of operational decisions, ensuring compliance with unique state and local laws, and proactively addressing potential legal risk.
