Job Description

For Airbus Secure Land Communications GmbH, part of the Airbus Public Safety and Security (PSS) Business Unit of the Airbus Defense and Space Division, we are looking for a Legal Counsel (m/f/d) with focus on contract management for the PSS Legal Department at the Ulm location. In close cooperation with the Senior Legal Counsel to whom you report, you will be responsible for the legally compliant implementation of Airbus PSS s contracts. To do so, you provide independent professional legal advice and support to the Airbus PSS bids, sales, procurement and commercial teams located in different regions. You will focus on contract management, i.e. you will support the bid phase through to the project phase and take responsibility for the contractual implementation of the projects, ensuring effective Change Management and Claim Management where necessary. A security clearance is required for this position or must be issued by the recognized authorities.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide independent professional legal advice and support to the Airbus PSS bids, sales, procurement and commercial teams
  • Focus on contract management
  • Support the bid phase through to the project phase
  • Take responsibility for the contractual implementation of the projects, ensuring effective Change Management and Claim Management where necessary
  • Provide contractual/commercial support to sales, bids and project teams, including bid preparation, contract preparation, negotiation and execution
  • Manage commercial/contractual issues during the bid / contract phase
  • Support the preparation of RFPs to potential subcontractors/suppliers, ensuring maximum flow down of prime contract terms and ongoing compliance with contractual requirements
  • Provide guidance, support and advice to the project team to enable them to comply with company processes and procedures, including Maturity Gate Reviews and compliance with contract terms throughout the contract period
  • Responsible for ensuring that all commercial/contractual risks are reported and managed with the appropriate internal functions
  • Work in close collaboration with the PSS Legal team

Requirements

  • Fully qualified lawyer (post graduate Master degree in law) or comparable qualification
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience preferably in an international environment
  • Professional experience in the field of security and/or defense is a big plus
  • Experience in Change and Claim Management, review, drafting and negotiation of contracts in an international environment and a detailed understanding of legal implications
  • Experience in procurement law (mainly in Europe), international law, IT law is an advantage
  • Able to work independent and highly business oriented
  • Proactive and creative, in the sense of being able to anticipate
  • Communicative, strong negotiator and like to solve problems and propose and implement pragmatic solutions to prevent or remedy such problems
  • Fluent in both German and English
  • Knowledge of French is highly appreciated

Nice to have

  • Professional experience in the field of security and/or defense
  • Experience in procurement law (mainly in Europe), international law, IT law
  • Knowledge of French
