Airbus in Taufkirchen is looking for a Legal Counsel Competition Law to deal with all Competition law related topics for Airbus, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence & Space. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of experts advising on Competition law related matters impacting Airbus and all its divisions, all around the world. Under the supervision of the Head of Competition law of Airbus located in Toulouse, France, you will be dealing with Competition law related questions that can arise within the group, while being based in Taufkirchen, Germany. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment where your proven experience, expertise and knowledge directly impacts day-to-day business operations. Job Responsibility:

  • Assist the business and legal communities in the analysis of potential Competition law issues arising in the course of day-to-day business (in particular, cooperation agreements, teaming agreements with third parties in the context of tender offers, relationships with the industrial supply chain, distribution networks, research and development cooperation, etc.)
  • Assist M&A and Strategy departments group-wide in the context of all contemplated M&A opportunities (from feasibility study to negotiation phase, merger control filing procedures until clearance decisions are obtained, and post-merger integration)
  • Monitor third parties’ M&A transactions notified before competition authorities, build a group-wide position through the collection of the inputs of all internal stakeholders and liaise with competition authorities where required
  • Respond to questionnaires in relation to investigations relating to third parties and to sector inquiries from various competition authorities after having collected relevant data internally and built a group-wide position
  • Assess with the support of the Legal & Compliance community (including Public Affairs) financing schemes for new programs from a State aid standpoint and, when required, liaising with the relevant State stakeholders
  • Assess if Airbus M&A transactions and participation in public tenders fall into the EU Foreign Subsidy Regulation and, when required, manage the filing procedure until clearance decisions are obtained
  • Manage Competition law related investigations, pre-litigation and litigation impacting an entity of the group
  • Provide Competition law training for business employees (e.g. procurement, sales) and the Legal & Compliance community
  • Participate in the drafting of all Competition law-related documentation (e.g. guidelines, digital tools)

Requirements:

  • Competition law academic background (master degree or equivalent in EU competition law
  • a degree in German, French competition law would also be an asset)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in competition law on top of internship periods in competition law (in particular anti-competitive practices and merger control), with initial experiences as a lawyer and/or as an in-house legal counsel in a competition law team
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several complex legal and internal procedures involving multiple internal departments and third party stakeholders such as competition authorities, governments, industrial partners and law firms
  • Ability to manage the transformation of general and detailed market information into a legally coherent and concise case
  • Demonstrate strategic insight and value-added orientation
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to build excellent internal relationship
  • Open-minded, autonomous, responsive and creative
  • Cooperative and team-player
  • Fluent in German and English
