Job Responsibility
Provide Administrative Support: Schedule meetings, handle photocopying, draft correspondence, prepare pleadings, and create/update trial binders
Manage Schedules & Workflows: Implement an effective diary system to manage the lawyer's practice, monitor calendars, schedule appearances, and ensure various deadlines are met
Client Communication: Support clients by scheduling appointments, exchanging/obtaining necessary information, and communicating case progress
Document Management: Review and manage documents using software programs, ensuring all electronic filing is strictly up to date
Dictation: Process dictation with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
Team Collaboration: Provide vital support to fellow assistants, clerks, lawyers, and management
Professional Development: Keep your knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities

Requirements
College diploma from either a legal office administration or law clerk program, OR any combination of equivalent education and experience
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience specifically in insurance defence litigation
Must be eligible to work in Canada
Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and strong document management skills, including the ability to learn and utilize internal software programs
A strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading abilities
Ability to prioritize and organize with a demonstrated, disciplined approach to work
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Capacity to exercise sound judgment and take initiative when necessary
