There is now an opportunity for an accomplished and commercially minded lawyer to join our small but friendly legal team, reporting directly to the company’s General Counsel but working closely and directly with the different offices, business teams and functions providing legal support in the negotiation, drafting, and review of commercial contracts, as well as advising on various legal matters related to the research and professional services industry.
Job Responsibility:
Contract review and negotiation: reviewing contracts, including subscription agreements, licence agreements and vendor contracts and negotiating terms to protect the company's interests
Compliance: ensuring that the company complies with relevant laws and regulations, such as data protection, anti-bribery, and anti-money laundering regulations
Intellectual property: protecting the company's intellectual property and ensuring that the company does not infringe on the intellectual property of others
Risk management: identifying and mitigating legal risks that could impact the company's operations, such as reputational risks, regulatory risks, and contractual risks
M&A support: working as part of an internal deal team to support the assessment, negotiation and post transaction elements of an acquisition
Corporate governance: ensuring that the company adheres to the best practices in corporate governance which includes maintaining accurate records, complying with shareholder requirements and applicable rules and regulations
Requirements:
UK qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2-3 years PQE, ideally including in-house experience
Strong commercial/contract law experience but with the attitude and breadth of experience to be able to support the business more widely
Enthusiasm for developing a deep understanding of our business and playing a role in supporting its key strategic initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and with stakeholders across different functions and regions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and provide practical solutions
High level of attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
Self-starter, dynamic and proactive, who will function independently, engage with clients and other stakeholders to solve issues and drive projects forwards
