We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join a busy law firm team, supporting attorneys across matters involving construction, commercial disputes, government contracts, surety, and bankruptcy. This permanent, onsite role is a contract position with the potential to become permanent and is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-moving legal environment, manages competing priorities with precision, and brings a strong service mindset to attorney support. Job Responsibility:
Prepare, proofread, and finalize pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents for filing and distribution
Maintain accurate case calendars and monitor litigation deadlines to help ensure timely filings and responses
Research court rules, procedural requirements, and filing timelines using available legal and court resources
Communicate with courts and related offices regarding filing status, scheduling matters, and case updates
Coordinate depositions by arranging dates, confirming participants, and managing supporting logistics
Provide day-to-day legal and administrative assistance for multiple attorneys across several practice areas
Support document handling and case organization through systems such as iManage, SurePoint, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat
Assist with additional office and case support tasks such as file intake, matter opening, invoice entry, time entry, and reimbursement processing when needed
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in a legal assistant, legal secretary, or comparable law firm support role
Demonstrated experience with e-filing, court filings, docket management, and litigation calendar oversight
Ability to prepare and finalize pleadings accurately with strong typing and document formatting skills
Experience scheduling depositions and coordinating related details with strong attention to detail
Working knowledge of how to independently identify deadlines, civil procedure requirements, and court rules
Proficiency with legal and office software, including iManage, SurePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support multiple attorneys in a deadline-driven setting
Detail-oriented, team-oriented approach with a positive attitude and sound judgment in a collaborative workplace
