We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join a leading community-based child welfare organization in Hamilton, ON. In this vital role within our legal and business administration specialization, you will provide high-level administrative, clerical, and legal support to a team of dedicated lawyers and social workers. This position is designed for an individual who operates with a high degree of personal and professional integrity and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Litigation files and court matters
Serving and uploading documents to the court
Diarizing
Affidavits
Computer systems related to the court
Provide comprehensive legal, administrative, and clerical support to the unit, ensuring all work is prioritized and completed in a timely fashion
Requirements:
Paralegal Diploma, Diploma in a legal secretarial program, or certificate in law from a recognized college
3 to 5 years of experience in an administrative legal support position, preferably in a family law practice
Successfully completed Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario courses is an asset
Respectful and compassionate demeanor with a commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-racist philosophy
Valid Ontario Driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract (if driving is required)
Must be bondable with an acceptable police clearance and satisfactory provincial records search
Ability to work in person at the Hamilton office location
Experience in family law and court matters
What we offer:
$20-$24 an hour
1-2 Months Full Time Contract
Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm 1 unpaid hour lunch
