We are looking for a skilled Legal Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will provide essential support to attorneys, particularly during trial periods, ensuring smooth communication and timely preparation of legal documents. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and experience in civil litigation and court filings.
Job Responsibility:
Manage client communications effectively, especially during trial periods when attorneys are unavailable
Assist in drafting motions and other legal documents required for trials in emergency situations
Coordinate and oversee e-filing processes to ensure timely submission of legal documents
Maintain and update calendars to track important court dates, deadlines, and appointments
Handle court filings with precision, ensuring all required documents are accurate and submitted on time
Provide support for medical malpractice and personal injury cases by organizing case materials and documentation
Collaborate with attorneys to prepare trial materials and manage last-minute requests
Ensure compliance with legal protocols and procedures during all stages of litigation
Monitor and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role
Proficiency in e-filing systems and court filing procedures
Strong understanding of civil litigation processes and legal terminology
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple calendars
Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Knowledge of legal protocols and procedures to support attorneys effectively
Nice to have:
Familiarity with medical malpractice and personal injury cases is preferred
