World Relief seeks a Legal Assistant to support the Afghan Legal Services Project to ensure services are provided in an organized, efficient, and timely manner to eligible clients. The position increases the capacity of the Immigration Legal Services’ program to meet the immigration legal needs of Afghan individuals with an emphasis on Dari/Pashto interpretation, translation, intake and screening, and immigration form preparation under the supervision of licensed legal practitioners. This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct intake and screenings for potential clients over the phone and in person
Contact and meet with clients to schedule appointments, send information, and gather necessary documents to assess eligibility and/or aid in applying for immigration benefits
Update client tracker spreadsheets and World Relief’s case management system as cases are completed
Assist in client referrals to other World Relief programs and social service providers
Provide interpretation and translation services for legal practitioners during client meetings
Assist with initial drafts of immigration forms to be submitted to USCIS
Assist with application submission preparation
Assist in supporting workshops to serve clients with asylum, temporary protected status, and employment authorization document applications
Other duties as assigned, as related to serving Afghans

Bilingual fluency with English and Dari is essential
An associate degree or equivalent university degree, whether from an academic institution in the U.S. or abroad or equivalent experience
Periodic evening and weekend availability
Must be able to pass a background check, including criminal record and motor vehicle reports
Must have regular access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of liability insurance
Proficiency with Microsoft office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
