We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a busy litigation practice in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can keep case activity organized, manage court-related filings, and help attorneys stay ahead of deadlines. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment and contributing to matter preparation from discovery through trial support.
Job Responsibility
Prepare, review, and submit electronic filings for matters in both state and federal courts while helping ensure accuracy and timeliness
Coordinate discovery activities by tracking document requests, organizing productions, assisting with subpoenas, and supporting deposition logistics
Maintain litigation calendars by monitoring court dates, filing deadlines, and key case milestones, and update docket information as needed
Organize and maintain case records, correspondence, pleadings, and supporting materials so files remain complete and accessible
Assist attorneys and the litigation support team with trial preparation, including exhibit assembly, document organization, and readiness planning
Communicate with internal stakeholders, courts, and outside parties to help keep case-related administrative tasks moving efficiently.
Requirements
Experience supporting civil litigation matters in a law firm or legal department setting
Proficiency with electronic filing procedures for court submissions, including state and federal court filings
Strong calendar management skills with the ability to track multiple deadlines and priorities accurately
Familiarity with discovery support processes, including document production, subpoenas, and deposition preparation
Ability to organize legal files and manage detailed documentation with a high level of accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to legal administrative support.
