We are looking for a Legal Assistant to support employment-based immigration matters on a Contract basis in Miami, Florida. This role focuses on preparing and managing H-1B visa cases from initial intake through final submission, with close attention to deadlines and documentation accuracy. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with labor certification processes and can keep multiple case activities organized in a fast-paced legal environment.
Job Responsibility
Manage H-1B case files from opening through completion, ensuring each matter progresses on schedule and includes all required supporting documents
Prepare, review, and organize labor certification materials and related immigration paperwork for timely filing
Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and sponsoring employers to collect information, track outstanding items, and resolve documentation gaps
Maintain calendars for filing deadlines and case milestones, including end-of-month submission targets
Complete electronic filings and assemble petition packages with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
Monitor case status updates, keep records current, and maintain orderly documentation throughout the life of each petition
Support employment-based immigration matters involving teacher sponsorships and related visa petition activity
Assist with court or agency filing logistics when needed and ensure submission requirements are followed correctly
Requirements
At least 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, in immigration law
Demonstrated experience handling H-1B visa matters from start to finish
Working knowledge of labor certification preparation and employment-based immigration procedures
Proficiency with electronic filing systems and document management in a legal setting
Strong calendar management skills with the ability to meet urgent and fixed deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when preparing petitions, forms, and supporting records
Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with attorneys, clients, and employers
