We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support a busy litigation practice in Dallas, Texas. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, confident working with court procedures, and comfortable managing a wide range of legal administrative and case support tasks. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping matters on schedule, preparing filings, and maintaining effective communication with clients, courts, and internal stakeholders.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and submit court documents through electronic filing systems and coordinate proper service of filings and case materials
Conduct initial intake support by reviewing prospective client inquiries, checking for conflicts, and identifying matters that do not align with established case criteria
Draft routine legal documents, including basic proposed orders, for attorney review and finalization
Assemble discovery requests, organize supporting information, and prepare draft response materials for attorney input, including objections and substantive edits
Format briefs and related documents to meet appellate court filing standards and jurisdiction-specific requirements
Maintain both digital and physical calendaring systems, track hearings and deadlines, and build case timelines based on pleadings, notices, and court orders
Monitor open items across active matters and proactively remind attorneys of upcoming deadlines, outstanding tasks, and incomplete work
Apply Bates numbering, perform redactions when needed, and prepare discovery materials for production and service
Communicate with court personnel to schedule hearings, confirm filing expectations, and gather procedural information relevant to pending matters
Serve as a point of contact for clients by providing updates, requesting information, and helping ensure timely communication throughout the life of a case.
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience supporting attorneys in a litigation-focused legal assistant role
Hands-on proficiency with e-filing platforms and court filing procedures in civil litigation matters
Working knowledge of litigation processes, including discovery preparation, deadline tracking, and document service
Experience assisting with complex business, commercial, or defense litigation matters
Strong document formatting skills, with the ability to prepare court-ready filings and appellate materials accurately
High level of organization and attention to detail when managing calendars, timelines, and case documentation
Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with clients, court staff, and attorneys.
Nice to have
Experience with NetDocs is a plus.
