A highly respected Plaintiff Personal Injury law firm in Downtown Minneapolis is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support a busy attorney with detailed case management, client communication, and litigation support. This role is ideal for a proactive, organized professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys being a key part of the client experience from intake through case resolution.
Job Responsibility:
Review and date-stamp all incoming mail daily
Review, respond to, and save all e‑mails into the appropriate electronic file
Open new client files and ensure all required documentation is properly organized
Receive, print, and save incoming faxes
Process documents in Filevine and review for completeness and accuracy
Handle all aspects of electronic filing and service, including saving electronically and printing materials when needed
Add and maintain docket dates electronically, including SOL deadlines, scheduling orders, and reminders
Request medical records and bills at the direction of the attorney
Schedule appointments, depositions, IMEs, and trial testimony
Schedule motions and hearings with courts and opposing counsel
Obtain and serve subpoenas
Assist in disbursing settlement funds according to firm accounting requirements
Request checks and process payment of invoices as needed
Arrange delivery of arbitration books, presentation materials, or other case-related packages
Contact medical providers at the close of a case to confirm all outstanding bills are paid
Maintain and update the attorney’s calendar, ensuring deadlines and meetings are clearly tracked
Handle incoming phone calls when the attorney or paralegal is unavailable
Provide proactive reminders to the attorney regarding upcoming hearings, meetings, and trial dates
Support workflow to keep cases progressing efficiently from intake through resolution
Requirements:
Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary, preferably within plaintiff personal injury or litigation
Strong understanding of electronic filing procedures in Minnesota state courts
Experience with Filevine or similar legal case management software preferred
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines
Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative legal team
