Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our detail-oriented services team in Sacramento, California. This role supports a busy litigation practice and offers an excellent benefits package, including health coverage and a 401(K) profit-sharing plan. The position provides flexibility with a hybrid schedule following an initial in-office period.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including tracking deadlines and coordinating schedules using a master calendar system
  • Open and close client matters while creating and maintaining comprehensive client profiles
  • Draft and format various legal documents, letters, and memoranda, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Conduct e-filing of court documents, adhering to local, state, and federal court rules
  • Prepare and organize discovery materials, motions, deposition notices, subpoenas, and trial binders
  • Assist in the preparation of exhibits and trial or hearing documentation
  • Support attorneys in managing cases from inception through trial, providing administrative and litigation assistance
  • Generate expense reports and maintain accurate records for billing purposes

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of recent experience in litigation support, including filing in state and federal courts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to draft and proofread legal documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and document formatting
  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with e-filing processes, discovery procedures, and calendaring systems
  • Experience in civil litigation, preferably within medical malpractice insurance defense
