Job Description:

A Florida law firm seeks a Legal Assistant/Paralegal - Litigation for their Sarasota office. This position performs a variety of legal administrative support duties and delivers high-quality service to clients, exhibiting commitment to integrity and excellence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform a variety of legal administrative support duties
  • Deliver high-quality service to clients
  • Prioritize, manage, and follow through on multiple projects
  • Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with clients, attorneys, staff, and peers
  • Draft and proofread correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Assist attorneys in entering billing narratives, tracking billable tasks, making edits, calendaring billing due dates, and delivering bills to clients

Requirements:

  • At least five years of Florida law firm experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant and/or Paralegal
  • Experience working in a mid to large-size firm and collaborating with various firm-wide departments
  • Proficient knowledge of the rules of procedure using various court filing systems
  • Experience filing pleadings in both Federal and State courts
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience tracking firm, attorney, and client expenses and using application software to process reimbursements and payments
  • Knowledge and ability to participate in the client billing process
  • Ability to schedule State court hearings
  • Ability to calculate deadlines and ensure they are met
  • Ability to schedule client and other appointments
  • Experience managing electronic and paper case files
  • Experience handling incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
  • Experience answering, screening, directing, and placing telephone calls and emails
  • Consistently deliver outstanding client service and quality
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and time constraints while balancing multiple assignments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience working with law firm case management and billing software

Knowledge of iManage, SmartTime, Aderant, and Relativity
