Job Responsibility:
Acting as the first point of contact for client queries and providing regular updates on matter progression
Drafting basic correspondence, legal forms and supporting documents under supervision
Assisting with the preparation and submission of documents to the Probate Registry, HMRC, and Certainty
Managing the safe custody, organisation, and release of important legal documents such as wills, LPAs, and probate papers
Opening and closing files in line with AML procedures, SRA regulations, and internal quality standards
Managing calendars, appointments, and deadlines for fee earners
Preparing bills, processing payments and receipts, and liaising with the accounts team
Drafting estate accounts using Excel and handling associated administrative tasks
Providing telephone and reception support, and assisting with post and banking as needed
Contributing to the smooth running of the office with general administrative support
Requirements:
Prior experience as a legal assistant or secretary, ideally within private client or another legal discipline
Sound knowledge of legal office processes and file management
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Familiarity with case management systems (preferred)
High standard of written and verbal communication
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive attitude
A friendly and professional manner, both in person and over the phone
