We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Legal Administrative Assistant in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role is central to operations in the legal industry where you will be expected to provide comprehensive support to attorneys and contribute to the efficient operation of our legal department. The ideal Legal Administrative Assistant candidate will perform a variety of tasks including legal research, drafting documents, managing case files, and communicating with clients and external parties.
Job Responsibility
Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft various legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and other related documents
Manage, organize, and maintain case files and documents ensuring all paperwork is accurate and current
Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other external parties to gather information and schedule appointments
Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings
Prepare, manage, and file legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other relevant entities
Assist in trial preparation tasks such as organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to the ethical standards of the legal profession
Provide administrative support to attorneys including managing calendars, answering phone calls, and handling correspondence
Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal procedures relevant to the practice area
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the legal department
Requirements
5+ years of experience in a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal administrative support role within a law firm or corporate legal department
Strong understanding of legal terminology, document preparation, filing practices, and general legal procedures
Demonstrated ability to perform legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar resources
Proficiency with Office applications, including Word, along with familiarity with legal documentation systems and eDiscovery tools
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
Strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field preferred
paralegal certification is highly valued
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment
