This opportunity is based with the Leg ulcer service and managed by the Tissue Viability Team. The leg ulcer service is a dedicated nurse led team that delivers quality and effective care to heal ulcers whilst caring for the whole person. We are a dynamic, developing service and enthusiastic team providing education, advice, support and clinical care for patients across Nottingham CityCare Leg Ulcer Clinics. We strive to find the best ways to engage patients with their care and promote healthy legs so that they stay healed.
Job Responsibility:
Work with leg ulcer nurses in established clinics
Assist in helping and supporting patients about their condition
Assist in the coordination of clinics for leg ulcer patients
Assist patients at appointments
Assist the nurse to remove bandages, wash and redress legs
Help patients with health advice
Deliver compassionate care
Follow infection control guidance with cleaning equipment
Assist in leg ulcer assessment using specialist equipment
Record activities on a computer
Maintain stock levels
Build therapeutic relationships with patients until they are discharged
Learn about compression products and how to apply and remove them
Promote good skin care
Assess client needs and ensure safe transfer into clinic
Remove bandages and dressings safely and appropriately wash wounds and skin on the lower limb
Observe confidentiality and maintain a professional image
Ensure clinical environments are prepared and maintained according to Health and Safety and Infection Control policies
Deliver wound and skin care with competent application of paste bandages and compression bandages
Report any concerns during procedures or wound observation to the registered nurse
Provide a service to patients, families and carers attending clinic
Record client information on System One
Work with team to facilitate ordering, distribution and maintenance of equipment
Work with team to facilitate continued development of a needs-led patient focussed service
Participate in day to day activities required to ensure smooth running of the service
Participate in audit/research activity as required
Assist the Leg Ulcer Clinic lead with appointment allocation
Act in accordance with and promote the City Care values
Act as an ambassador for the Leg ulcer Clinic Service
Be committed to providing a high level of customer service and patient experience
Maintain professional awareness and attend appropriate training
Participate in the appraisal process and development of own Personal Development Plan
Liaise with other Agencies as appropriate to ensure comprehensive and collaborative care for service users
Requirements:

NVQ level 2 Health & Social Care
Experience in providing clinical care
Keen interest within the field of wound care
