Job Description:

We’re looking for qualified lawyers to bring their real-world experience into the classroom as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer within our Law Academic Team at our Moorgate campus. This role is ideal for solicitors, barristers or lawyers who are ready to step away from fee-earning and use their professional expertise to shape the next generation of legal professionals. You’ll be part of a supportive academic community, delivering high-quality, practice-focused teaching across our professional and academic programmes. Our delivery model operates on a 5-over-7-day working pattern, which may include evenings and weekends, reflecting the flexible way our students learn.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach on our courses and act as an academic coach to students, and signpost students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey
  • Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
  • Identify the need for developing the content, structure, assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved
  • Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design
  • Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
  • Teach across a range of programmes including the LPC, SQE, BPC, PGDL/MAL, LLM in Legal Practice, LLB, Professional Skills and other postgraduate and professional courses
  • Depending on experience, the role may also involve conducting Higher Rights of Audience assessments

  • Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
  • Professional, credible, commands respect
  • For Lecturer: Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards
  • Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE
  • For Senior Lecturer: Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA)
  • Relevant teaching qualification
  • Senior Lecturers will have developed significant expertise in the application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessment design, marking and team leadership
