We’re looking for qualified lawyers to bring their real-world experience into the classroom as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer within our Law Academic Team at our Birmingham campus. We’re keen to hear from qualified solicitors and barristers with experience in practice who are motivated by teaching, mentoring and passing on the realities of legal life beyond the textbooks. This role is ideal for solicitors, barristers or lawyers who are ready to step away from fee-earning and use their professional expertise to shape the next generation of legal professionals. You’ll be part of a supportive academic community, delivering high-quality, practice-focused teaching across our professional and academic programmes. Our delivery model operates on a 5-over-7-day working pattern, which may include evenings and weekends, reflecting the flexible way our students learn. Reporting to our Academic Management Team, you’ll teach across a range of programmes including the LPC, SQE, BPC, PGDL/MAL, LLM in Legal Practice, LLB, Professional Skills and other postgraduate and professional courses.
Job Responsibility:
Teach on our courses and act as an academic coach to students, and signpost students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey
Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
Identify the need for developing the content, structure, assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved
Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning
Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design
Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards
Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE
Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject

Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
Professional, credible, commands respect
Must be able to prove the right to work in the UK
Nice to have:
Experience in real estate or corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions
Master’s level qualification in international human rights or public international law
