Job Description:

The Department of Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a non-tenure track Lecturer of Human Services position, located on the Norfolk, VA campus to begin Fall 2026. This is a 10-month instructor appointment with a 4/4 teach load, as well as service commitments.

Job Responsibility:

Requirements:

  • A Master’s in Human Services or a closely related field
  • Evidence of professional identity in the field of human services (i.e., articulation of what human services is, and education, teaching, work, or service in a human services context)
  • 2-5 years of post-graduate experience in the helping professions (e.g., human services, social work, counseling, community development)
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students in human services or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity

Nice to have:

  • Professional identity and history of service in the helping fields to include membership, leadership, or service in professional organizations (e.g., NOHS, ACA, NAADAC etc.)
  • Credential in a helping profession (e.g., QMHP, HS-BCP, LPC, LCSW, CSAC, etc.)
