Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Cybersecurity on a permanent, full-time contract to join the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences within Birkbeck’s Faculty of Science, located in the heart of London’s historic Bloomsbury area. Following the introduction of a new undergraduate programme in Cybersecurity, and in preparation for expanding provision to the postgraduate level, we are now broadening our academic expertise in this area. As the post holder, you will work alongside existing colleagues and a newly appointed Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity.
Job Responsibility:
Teach and inspire students across various settings, from small tutorials to large lectures
Develop and deliver engaging teaching materials and methods, and convene modules
Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance
Engage in research activities and contribute to the school's research objectives
Participate in outreach and engagement activities to enhance public understanding of your discipline and/or contribute to School administration and management
Pursue an internationally excellent research agenda in Cybersecurity
Play an active role in designing and delivering our related course portfolio
Help foster our vibrant research culture and environment
Advance knowledge in your field
Make a significant contribution to the intellectual development of our diverse student cohort
Requirements:
Hold a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related discipline
Experience in teaching and leading modules at the undergraduate and postgraduate level
Thorough knowledge of different types of teaching methods and strategies appropriate to Computer Science
Effective communication and presentation skills
Commitment to diversity and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
Background in Computer Science or a closely related discipline
Strong research track record in Cybersecurity
Ability to collaborate with colleagues across the School
Teaching experience in Cybersecurity and other areas of Computer Science
