Job Description:

Manchester City Council is seeking a passionate, resilient, and values-driven Personal Advisor to join its Leaving Care Service, supporting young people aged 16–25 as they transition into independent adulthood. This is a rewarding frontline role where you will make a genuine, lasting difference to the lives of care-experienced young people across Manchester.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, timely statutory records
  • Complete Pathway Plan Assessments, reviews and ongoing assessments
  • Support young people post-21 who wish to return to education or training
  • Ensure young people’s views and wishes are central to planning and decision-making
  • Provide practical, flexible support to promote successful transitions to adulthood
  • Coordinate services and encourage engagement with statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Identify, supervise and monitor packages of support in the community
  • Support young people with financial entitlements and budgeting skills
  • Assist young people to access and sustain appropriate accommodation
  • Work in partnership to deliver holistic, joined-up support
  • Promote independence while identifying and reducing risk and vulnerability

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Confident with IT systems, recording and reporting
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people or similar client groups
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Willingness to apply for and consent to an enhanced DBS
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle daily
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation including: Children Act 1989 & 2004, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, Children and Families Act 2014, Working Together 2014, Safeguarding, Domestic Abuse awareness
  • Ability to work flexibly between 08:00 – 20:00, Monday to Friday
