The LOA Specialist will operate in a team setting and provide total leave of absence claim management throughout North America.
Job Responsibility:
Provide leave of absence claim management oversight, with the support of our third-party administrator
Track and analyze leave of absence data using our internal HRIS system and Excel
Respond to requests from state agencies and insurance companies regarding company plans, state paid disability and leave programs
Provide excellent customer service by providing timely responses via phone, email and mail including offering guidance to all potential LOA inquiries
Support the day-to-day outsourced Leave of Absence administration while developing and maintaining relationships with other departments including but not limited to Human Resources, workers' compensation, and corporate counsel
Properly engage with managers and Human Resources in the interactive process and document reasonable accommodations
Attend on-going continuing education on Leave of Absence topics and ensure 100% federal and state compliance in all areas in which we operate
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)
Minimum of one (1) year of human resources experience in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology
Ability to maintain correspondence, discussions, and materials in strictest confidence
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team player
Proactive problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Basic knowledge of commonly used human resources concepts, labor laws, and practices
Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed
Nice to have:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study
In-depth knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act, Military Leaves, and other applicable federal and state laws, as well as company leave policies
Knowledge of integration of leaves and benefits
