Our client, a leading manufacturer, is seeking a dynamic Leave of Absence & HR Specialist to join their fast-paced team. The current team member in this position plays a crucial role in supporting employees through every stage of leave—ensuring compliance, caring for people, and maintaining production continuity during frequent absences. The ideal candidate will actively engage the team, be resourceful under pressure, and seamlessly step in to support wherever needed. This is a contract to hire opportunity based in the West suburbs of Chicago, IL.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the full lifecycle of employee leaves (FMLA, ADA, personal, medical, etc.) with a focus on high-volume processing (30+ absences per year)
Serve as the main point of contact for all leave of absence requests, documenting, tracking, and communicating status updates
Own all aspects of the leave process—80% of the role centers on this function
Support open enrollment, general benefits administration, and employee questions related to health, disability, and other benefit programs
Collaborate with manufacturing supervisors and HR colleagues to keep operations running smoothly during staffing shortages
Use Paycor HRIS and associated systems to track leaves and employee data
Flexibly support other HR functions as needed to maintain team productivity
Foster a positive, inclusive, and energetic workplace culture
Step up to fill gaps when peers are out, adapting quickly in a fast-paced setting
