We are looking for a Leasing Consultant to support leasing activity and resident relations for a short-term contract position based in Metairie, Louisiana. In this role, you will help create a positive experience for prospective and current residents by coordinating tours, guiding applicants through the leasing process, and responding to community-related questions. The position also supports office operations, marketing visibility, and renewal activity to help maintain strong occupancy and resident satisfaction.
Job Responsibility
Represent the community professionally and help drive occupancy through outreach efforts, creative marketing support, property tours, and resident referral encouragement
Welcome prospective residents, schedule appointments, and lead informative apartment showings that highlight community features and availability
Re-engage with prospective residents who have not yet committed, answer follow-up questions, and work to convert interest into signed leases
Review and enter applicant information in the property management system, coordinate screening steps, and collect required application-related payments
Prepare approved applications for the next stage of review, communicate status updates to applicants, and escalate conditional files as needed
Create lease documents, obtain all required signatures before move-in, and guide new residents through community policies and expectations
Maintain accurate lease records by filing completed documents appropriately and keeping shared office records up to date
Respond to resident inquiries related to rent, maintenance concerns, community guidelines, and general property information
Keep online apartment availability current across advertising platforms and ensure leasing materials such as brochures and applications remain stocked in the office
Support resident retention efforts by assisting with newsletters, tracking landscaping concerns, and preparing lease renewal reports and correspondence each month
Requirements
Previous experience in leasing, property management, or a related customer-facing housing role
Working knowledge of CRM platforms, property management systems, and accounting-related software
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general office applications for reporting and record maintenance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with prospects and residents
Ability to manage multiple applications, appointments, and follow-up tasks with close attention to detail
Comfortable handling documentation, collecting fees or deposits, and maintaining accurate records
Sound judgment and organizational skills to support renewals, resident communication, and daily leasing operations
