Job Description:

We are looking for a knowledgeable Lease Accounting Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in lease accounting and ASC 842 regulations to support clients in navigating complex financial scenarios. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, troubleshooting issues, and improving accounting processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary advisor for clients requiring guidance on ASC 842 lease classification, calculations, amortization schedules, and remeasurements
  • Analyze and validate lease data to assist with intricate setups and accounting challenges within specialized software
  • Resolve discrepancies in accounting calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Provide expert consultation on general ledger mapping, journal entry outputs, and system integration strategies
  • Facilitate client training sessions, discussions, and demonstrations on lease accounting functionalities and reporting tools
  • Monitor updates to ASC 842 regulations and interpret emerging changes to advise clients effectively
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to translate accounting requirements into software features
  • Review new software releases to confirm adherence to accounting standards and perform user acceptance testing
  • Develop internal documentation, training materials, and knowledge base content related to lease accounting
  • Offer guidance to cross-functional teams on accounting best practices and system capabilities

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on lease accounting
  • Proficiency in ASC 842 standards and lease accounting principles
  • Strong skills in general ledger management, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and troubleshoot accounting discrepancies
  • Experience with client consultation and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Familiarity with accounting software and system integrations
  • Knowledge of regulatory updates and financial compliance standards
